Archbishop Eames welcomes Church leaders and representatives
Archbishop Robin Eames welcomed Church leaders and representatives to the first day of the 2006 General Synod.
In particular the Primate welcomed the Most Revd Dr Seán Brady, Roman Catholic Archbishop of Armagh, Dr Ken Newell representing the Moderator of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church in Ireland, and the Revd Desmond Bain, President of the Methodist Church in Ireland.
Other representatives at this year’s Synod include the Very Revd Dr Kenneth Newell from the Presbyterian Church in Ireland. Dr Anne Pankhurst of the Episcopal Church of Scotland, Mr Derick Woods from the Moravian Church of Great Britain and Ireland, Pastor Fritz-Gert Mayer from the Lutheran Church, Major David Jackson from the Salvation Army and Revd Father Godfrey O’Donnell from the Romanian Orthodox Church. Mr Michael Earle is representing the Irish Council of Churches.
The Archbishop also gave a special welcome to Archbishop Joris AOL Vercammen, Archbishop of Utrecht and Bishop Jeremiah Taama from Kajiado Diocese in Kenya.
